The Rabbit Hole Designs- Peonies

Today is the last day of The Rabbit Hole Designs June Release.  I hope you have been enjoying each day, the amazing new sets, the inspiration and the chance to win some goodies.  Today shouldn't disappoint, we have a beautiful set called Pretty in Peony

I took two approaches with this set, the first soft and subtle, the second bright and bold.

This one is simple, I repeat stamped on white paper, then colored using my Copics.  I like the pastels and the soft look they create.  I trimmed the white so it was 4 X 5.5, I wanted the purple (wisteria from Stampin' Up!) to peak out.  I adhered the layers together.  Then I added this multi-toned twine (note it is more purple on the left and more blue on the right), tied it off, and added these ovals with the sentiment.  The finishing touch were the embellishments (from Trinity).

This card was created by stamping the images on watercolor paper with archival ink.  I had masked them using my post-it notes so they would appear layered.  I then colored them using my Zigs. I love how the pink pops.  When it all dried, I cut them out using my snips.  The base is simple white, I added this ombre polka dot strip of designer paper.  I placed my flowers using glue and dimensionals.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a small bit of black and placed it amid the flowers.  Lastly, I added the embellishments (Trinity Stamps).

The Rabbit Hole Designs- By The Shore & Mermaid Hair

Welcome to Day 2 of The Rabbit Hole Designs June release.  We are hopping again and have tons of amazing inspiration to share.

Today we have two more new sets, By The Shore and Mermaid Hair.  Click on the names to go directly to the sets. 😁 They are both immensely cute!

Here are the cards I created featuring these sets.

I love this combo of colors and the texture of the paper.  It makes the perfect backdrop for this sweet island girl.  I stamped her and colored her using my Copics.  I used a series of dies with rounded corners (I don't know who makes them) and layered them together.  I placed her on the blue so she would stand out.  I die cut the clouds and added some twine as an accent.

For this one, I started with a die cut circle.  I stamped the scene and used a series of masks (post-it notes) and distress inks to make the colors. Then I came in with Copics to add the color to the boat, rock and seagull.  I stamped the girl again and colored her and cut her out so I could pop her out in the scene.  I paper pieced her dress using some bright yellow paper with white hearts (the hearts don't really show) and I added a few accents with my Copics.  I used a gel pen for the waves. Next I cut the palm trees with a die from Gina Marie dies.  I added extra color to them with distress inks.  The background is a piece of flashy DP cut with a Wonky Stitches die, mounted on pink. This one is loud and proud. ;)

Next up is Mermaid Hair.  I did a little stamp "surgery" on this stamp and removed the jellyfish from the main image.  Not because I don't like it... on the contrary, I LOVE IT!  So I wanted to use it more.  And the mermaid, she is adorable!  I asked a friend, "what color is mermaid hair?"  She said pink...so OK! I stamped her and colored her with my Copics.  I stamped 6 jellies, colored them one for each color of the rainbow.  I fussy my mermaid and her jellyfish tops (not the tentacles) out.  I added shimmer to the mermaid and set her aside.  Next I pulled out this wave paper from Doodlebug Designs and die cut it using my deckle edge die, I stamped the sentiment which is from the Beach Day set.  I stamped my main image and my jellyfish.  Then I added the parts I had fussy cut and popped them out with dimensionals.  I added glossy accents to the bubbles and the jellies.  I mounted all this on another layer of DP, also cut with the deckle edge and mounted that on a white card base.

For this last one, I couldn't resist the thought of making her go around on a circle slider (from MFT).  So I stamped and colored her with my Copics, I used colors for her that mimicked the Little Mermaid's coloring.  I fussy cut her out, along with the fish.  There is some sparkle on her tail, though I am sure you can't see it here. The paper is from Doodlebugs and perfect for this scene.  The sentiment is fun along the bottom with that orange fishy.  Here are a few more images showing her go around:

The Rabbit Hole Designs- Beach Day

Hi Friends!

So excited to have you today for the first day of The Rabbit Hole Designs June release blog hop.  There are some spectacular sets coming out!  Today we are featuring Beach Day

Here are my cards using this fun set!

This is a long and lean card- 8.5 X 4.25.  These are very popular right now and the perfect way to allow me to use a good number of these cute stamps.  For this card there is a lot of distress ink, for the sand (Crushed Courdaroy), water (Salty Ocean) and sky (Broken China).  I used a stencil for the clouds and made my own stencils for the sandbar and water.  I have blender brushes that I love for this type of thing.  I had masked off the area for the island and lighthouse.  Then I came in and colored them and added shadows in the sand using my Copics.  The waves were made using a white gel pen.  I also used that to add polka-dots to her outfit.  The final bit of details was glossy accents, added to the spyglass and whale spray.

Here is a close up of the cute girl:

My next card is a shaped card using the sweet boy from the set.

To make this one, I started out by using die cut circles to make this life-ring shaped card.  I hung the larger circle over the edge so there would be a fold.  I also cut a red circle and then used scissors to create red sections for my life ring.  I added some darker red with my Copics for shadows and then added a little gel pen.  I stamped my boy and colored him with my Copics, then I cut him out using my Scan 'n Cut.  I stamped the sentiment on blue banner and added it to the front.

Happy BEE-DAY

Happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend? I did.  The weather was nice here and I spent some time on the deck, enjoying it. So it felt appropriate to make a card featuring nature.

This card was so fun to make!  I actually colored the bugs and mushrooms on Mother's Day and the rest this weekend.  It took quite a bit of time, but it was worth it.

Here is how I made it:
  • Stamped and colored the bugs from Heffy Doodle with my Copics, then added some highlights with my gel pen.  I cut them all out using my Scan' n cut.
  • Die cut a white base using amy Wonky Stitches Die from Avery Elle.
  • Created a cloudy sky using my distress inks, stencil and blendability brushes.
  • Die cut some grass using lawn fawn dies and colored them using distress inks.
  • Decided I wanted a few party hats and flowers, stamped the flowers from a Lawn Fawn set and the hats from a Trinity Stamps set.  Again, cut them with my SnC.
  • I used glue and dimensionals to put the scene together.
  • Lastly, I came in and added the bee's flight path, the sentiment and some slime for the bottom of the snail with glossy accents.

Here is a close up of the snail's slime trail:

I really just can't stand how cute these critters are, they make me happy!  I will probably have to hold on this one to a while until I am ready to part with it.
