Frankly my dear...

True story- my husband and I once planned a small event called Wienerfest.  It took place on national hot dog day in 2010.  It was an obstacle course event with about half a dozen contestants going head to head.  They had to ride tricycles, fill alternating shot glasses with ketchup and mustard, dig through buckets of relish for gherkin pickles, eat chili dogs upside down and more.  Among other things, we wore “official” T-shirts, feasted on hot dogs and hot dog candy, gave away hot dog BBQ packs (baskets, ketchup, mustard bottles, BBQ utensils and more) and the champion earned an adult sized hot dog costume.

You are probably wondering why this is relevant.  Well, if only I had this stamp set back then, I would have done banners and ribbons for the winners and so much more!  But alas, at least I have it now… J

I created this card by first stamping and coloring the Neat and Tangled Hot Dog stamps.   Now we all know that some people are mustard people (my hubby) and others are ketchup people (me), frankly (pun intended) it was hard to choose which condiment to go with.  But seeing as my hubby and I balance each other out, I thought it would be important to have one of each represented.  I so I colored one of each, cut out the dogs, added some glossy accents to the condiment line and set them aside.  Did the same with the trophy, colored and set aside.

But the Ketchup mustard conundrum continued when I decided to use this Waffle Flower backdrop, but again, I found a win by alternating red and yellow.  I stamped the images on the base and popped out the cut out versions for dimension.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on black with Versa Mark and used Wow Embossing Powder- Flame.  It looks more metallic and less red, on black, but I liked the contrast and pop!
Here is a close up that helps you see the glossy accents.

Well you learned a little something about me today.  I’d love to learn about you.  Tell me, are you a ketchup or mustard person?  And/or anything else you’d like to share about yourself.

Thanks for the visit!

Twinkle, Twinkle...Little Star

Today I have a quick post for you… yes, another belated Holiday card share.  But it is so darn cute, that hopefully you won’t mind.
Love the combo of colors and patterns on this card, may have been a lucky pick on my part… but it makes me happy. J

My process included stamping the Mouse from Hello Bluebird and coloring.  When it was said and done, I knew he/she had to go into the stocking, so I colored one of those and made them a happy pair.  I added the lines to the stocking with a gel pen and the Holly is from a separate HB set.  The pink stickles made for perfect sparkly berries.
Next I die cut this shape, which is from Cas-ual Fridays. It typically has two rounded edges, but I cut one end off, added a hole and made it into a tag.  Unfortunately, I don’t remember who makes this particular piece of DP, I have had it for 3ish years.  I found it on sale at my local craft store and loved it so much I bought several sheets.  Whittling them down to the nothing now… Noooooo….  After I had this bit worked out, I wanted a base paper, I chose this retro holiday sheet and cut it with my fave Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die.  I loved the pale blue and silver and added a little layer of blue behind.  I added this fun sticker embellishment from Pinkfresh.  I wanted to pull the silver out a bit more, so the silver twine and the stars from Trinity Stamps were the right accompaniment.
What do you think?  Fun even though it is my 100-millionth Holiday card? ;)  Hope so!

Thanks for the visit today!

The Rabbit Hole Designs & Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop

Welcome back to day 2 of the Hop with CLC and The Rabbit Hole Designs!  We are happy you have returned for a little more fun and a little more snark!

Here is my creation for today:

For this second card, I wanted to create a shaker card.  I used the rainbow paper (can't recall manufacturer) and die cut it using Gina Marie dies.  I die the the middle to create this window.  I stamped the Caffeinated Unicorn image on the white so you would get the peek-a-boo pic.  I added in this confetti from Trinity Stamps.  A little silver thread and the first part of my sentiment.

In reality, this is all just the set up for the inside of the card....the punchline...

Isn't that the best ever?!  Caffeine makes me #MagicalAF-  BWAHAHAHA!  I stamped the inside and colored with my Copics.  I added a star to the cup.  I added highlights to the hair with a white gel pen.  I love the final product.  Here is one more close up shot for you.

No code necessary.

BONUS- there are some giveaways, but let's get to the hop first and you can get those details at the bottom of this post.

My card today features Caffeinated Unicorn. Such a fun and silly set! As you can see, the best part (besides the fun image and all the creative possibilities it brings) is the sentiment and the apparent contradiction to the image.  Yes "coffee makes me sparkle," but I look like a zombie!  LOLOLOLOL

I wanted to set the stage for this unicorn in the most magical land.  It features puffy colored clouds, a magical background, pastel colors and sparkles.  I due cut the clouds (Lawn Fawn) and used distress inks with my Blendability Brushes (Trinity) to add color.  The background is an embossing folder and some light purple die cut clouds (PTI).  All this was the perfect stage for the unicorn, which I colored with Copics.  I enjoyed mixing the colors in the hair to add that messy look.  You can't see it here, but you'll notice in the pic below that I added Wink of Stella to a few bits to make it sparkle and match the sentiment.  How do you feel about the little pink bloodshot in the eye?!  LOL.  Oh and the narwhal slippers are awesome!  So much potential to be magical eh?!

Can you see that sparkle?  Such a nice touch to add to our character.

OK, here is the deal if you want a prize.... ahem...  The Rabbit Hole Designs is giving away a stamp of winners choice from today's preview to TWO lucky winners.  Leave a comment by 11:59 pm PST on 01-18-2019 for your chance to win. Winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on participating blogs, so make sure to visit each stop and leave a comment.  Winner's will be announced on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog & the Coffee Loving Cardmaker's blog on 01-21-2019.

Falala

First the bad news... my computer screen is failing and I can't edit my photos and post.  UGH!  I need a fix and fast.  Today I am  using my hubby's work computer.... shhhhh.....

The medium news... good/bad/indifferent... I am still making holiday cards.  I had some products I didn't get to use this year and I NEEDED to use them, it is like a sickness.  lol

The good news, due to the medium news I have a few holiday cards ready for 2019 season AND the one I am sharing today is just adorable (sorry, that was a little brag, but it is true).

OK, I was boasting a bit, but hopefully you agree this is cute.  Most of the credit goes to Honey Bee stamps for this darling set! I love all the elements and the cute snow people!!!!  I couldn't resist doing this in some non traditional colors.  I knew I wanted a pink hat and then yellow just seemed natural for the flowers, then you get this jade color and so fun!  Once I had colored with my Copics and die cut, I was inspired to make the landscape match.  So I used a Carta Bella snow stencil for the background and used my Mustard Distress Oxide for the snow and used Trinity Blendability Brushes to blend it all in.  Then I used my Trinity Stamps Castle Scene Builder die for the snowscape and used my Spun Sugar distress to give the snow a pink hue.  The sentiment is a die cut from Hello Bluebird and distressed with Ripe Raspberry.

I don't know about you but she gives me a joyous feel!

Winter Sky

We took a trip over the mountains to Grandma’s house for Christmas.  It was fun and busy.  Though I am glad I don’t live with deep snow all winter, it snowed while we were there and was so pretty.  At Grandma’s we se wild turkey and birds and sometimes deer.  That is what inspired this card, the idea of dusk, the sky glowing off the snow.

The Season’s Greetings Silhouette stamp set from Trinity makes the perfect winters nature scene.  To make this card, I began by stamping my images in black and cutting them out.  I set them aside and created my backdrop, first by using a stencil and embossing ink and why embossing powder to create the stars/snow.  Next I used my Trinity Blendability Brushes that I absolutely LOVE and distress inks, mostly blue with a touch of purple.  Them I took some white card stock and the landscape die from the Trinity Castle Scene Builder set and used it to create a snowscape.  I layered my deer and trees and added highlights with my white gel pen.  Lastly I mounted my scene on my cardstock and added a layer of black in between.

I think this set and scene is so pretty and really captures the magical feel you can get on a snowy day.
