Just for the heck of it...

I've been on a roll with my Paper Smooches stamps, I just love them so and I can't seem to get enough!  There are a few new sets that I HAVE to have, but they aren't in my budget just now so I am going to have to wait...tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc...is it payday yet?!  I'll do my best.  Anyway I was playing here with a few of my sets just because I love them.  No occasion or person in mind, just creating.  Here is what came out of it.

Card #1  is made from the Woofers & Tweeters set as well as Cut Loose.  This little woofer is my fave in the whole dang set.  If I were to have a dog, it would be a Yorkie and look a little bit like this one in size and shape (but not color).  This pup is just perfect hanging among these clouds with this fab kite.  And I love, love this DP (can't remember what it is at the moment, sorry!) but the pastel clouds and patterns on them are fab.  This sweet little doggie and the kit just fit perfectly.  While we are on the subject please check out this card by Suzanne Bier using another one of the pups in this set.  She won the PS SPARKS nautical challenge with this- so well deserved!  So darn creative and cute, I love it Suzanne!

Card #2 is made using the goat in the Green Acres set.  He just seemed to want to be around (and eating...) wood.  Wood grain paper, wood chip shapes from Freckled Fawn, whatever.  I was even going to put something in the little goat's mouth, but decided it looked better without.  I  wanted this card to be bright but still masculine that could be used for any old occasion.  Again, I used some of the DP I mentioned above, though I can't remember what co. it is from. :(

Do you have anything you are going to do today just for the heck of it? Hope you likey and thanks for stopping!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day all!  I hope all of the Mom's out there are enjoying themselves!  I am having a wonderful day!  My family is so fabulous and I am so lucky.  Yet I don't want to spend my whole day blogging, got to hang with the kiddo, so I'll make this short.

This card is for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Trend Watch.

The theme this week is nautical and here is the pic.  Pretty fab!  I don't have the super cool new and trendy stamp set Nauticool from PS, but I do have a few of their dies that work.  The Sailboat die and the Hot Spots dies, which I got for Mother's Day!  Like I said, fab family. :)  I love it when I see sailboats with the quilt-like sails, they are fab.  I also found a cool tutorial on Pinterest for this knot, it was supposed to make a headband but looked very nautical to me.  These two things were my main inspiration, so wallah!  There you have it folks.  Hope you likey and hope you enjoy your day!

PS- I am also entering this creation into the PS SPARKS DT call.  You'll see lots of entries from me in the next week because I would love to be on such a great DT!

Thinking ahead to Father's Day on this Mother's Day weekend

Not to neglect you Mom's out there for sure!  You deserve props as well!  In fact, I have a card, a little cartoon AND a fun video to share.  So if that doesn't make you feel special, well I don't know what will. :)  So here goes...

First is my little card that I made for my Ma.  I'll note that I used my Green Acres set from Paper Smooches on this card.  I just love the little chicky looking up at Mama, so sweet.  My own Mama, she is a VERY special woman and deserves so much happiness!  I wish I could spend MD with her.  I will get to see her in about a month though and really looking forward to that!  I love you mom!  And here is the cartoon and the video, enjoy!

Next is a Daddy's Day card.  In truth, I didn't originally make it for Father's Day, just a card for any old person.  But then I was thinking about how you could play up the word "Pop" and make it into a father's day card and how perfect!  There is a pocket on the inside that would fit a pair of movie tickets or a gift card perfectly!  My dad LOVES movies and popcorn, so this might be just what I make for him.  :)  But for now, since I have a month plus until FD, I'll just enter it into the Moxie Fab World Challenge for Gift Card Holders- here.

I haven't made many shaped cards, but the little cloud in the Paper Smooches Cut Loose kite stamp looked just like a popcorn kernel and I couldn't resist!  The words come from the Lawn Fawn Quinn's ABC's set.  It looks so good to me I could eat it!  That might be because I haven't been eating carbs for the last week though and I REALLY want to. :)

So, to all you Mom's and Dad's out there, enjoy your day!

Update on Stamping Royalty Honorable Mention

You may have read this post here about the Paper Crafts Magazine Stamping Royalty Contest.  Well sadly, I didn't win this contest.  BUT, I am still honored to be among the top 20 out of 1,300 cards for the Paper Crafts Mag SR contest.  What a huge suprize and so exciting to just be nominated!   I still came away with an awesome card sketch book ta-boot, so yay!  I also I really admire the stuff the winner makes and was already following her blog.  Being associated anywhere near her is pretty cool.  :)  Congrats to Chari Moss for your awesome card and awesome win!

I thought I might share with you a few of my other entries that I had submitted to the Stamping Royalty contest.  These all feature tons of different products.  The stamps are namely from: Lawn Fawn, Paper Smooches, Stampin' Up!, Simon Says Stamp,  and Hero Arts.  I can't recall who the "soar" sentiment came from at this moment :(.  I also couldn't tell you all the papers and what not at this time, sorry.   This first one is my fave of the cards, even the one that was voted HM.

Bad photo...:(

Different than my typical style.  The fence is made from wood textured paper.  Loved the little dies that went with this stamp set.

This was my first attempt at the chalkboard technique, fun!

My second fave of this bunch.   The inspiration from this came from a shirt that I own with feathers and these colors.

I already showed you this one in an earlier post, I knew it hadn't gotten chosen.

And that all there is!  I enjoyed making them all!  Thanks for popping by!

Stinkin' Old!

I have a whole bunch of stuff I've been meaning to post but am just behind.  So where should I start?!

How about with one that was for my Hubby's birthday yesterday!?!  He turned...well he might not like it if I tell...so older. :)  We have a ton of fun together and love to joke.  That is one of my favorite things about him is that he takes it so well, laughs so easily and has so much fun.  He really is amazing!  So I made him that card that is just perfect for him.  See he sometimes has bad (by that I mean stinky) gas...all men do I think, so I am not revealing any secrets there...but my daughter and I give him a hard time about it, so this little skunk was hard to resist.  it is from Darcie's Stamps Busy Beaver set.  It totally paired perfectly with a little Ugly Doll  named "Gassy" that my daughter wanted to give him- ha!    I am just noticing that Gassy kinda looks like the skunk in the card- LOL!  You probably think we are mean, but he truly does love being teased!

Anyway, he had a good birthday...even if he is old! ;)  We suprised him with dinner out with some friends at a family friendly local pub.  Some wonderful Trophy Cupcakes- DEVINE! and some great gifts, including beer making supplies.  What more could a man ask for?!  Here is a pic of him enjoying himself at his party...isn't he cute?!  Oh and if you can't read what his faux trucker party hat says, it reads "old fart shovel"- ha!

Thanks for stoppping, may have another post shortly!

UPDATE: Gassy is being naughty and won't stop standing on the text above.  This is soooo something my husband would do to get back at me for teasing him, so I guess it is appropriate, but how RUDE! ;)

Perfect Sailing Weather!!!

OK, first off, what do you think of this?!  Um yeah... this is what a Seattle summer can be like,  quite nice and really it should be.  We do get a lot of Fall/Winter/Spring rain, so i think we deserve it.  My fave thing to do when the weather is this nice is head toward the water.  Edmonds has the nicest beach, i just love it!  With the ferry docks near by and a park at the other end, fab!  In fact, here is a pic of my daughter playing at the beach last week when the sun was out.  Awww...

Since the weather is going to be just perfect for water and sailing I thought I'd share my Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge card with you!  This weeks theme is anything goes, so how perfect to pay an homage to the sun with this fun sailboat.  I love the current nautical trend and I had to get this "WiseDies" set from PS- so fab. (I love that name, Kim is so funny- WiseDies- it cracks me up every time!)  I was also excited to use my new Dear Lizzy paper, this ombre background DP is fab and I love the color combos of the other pages that I used for the sails.  I also used some woodgrain paper, perfect for the hull of a ship!
I hope you likey and do something fun in the sun this weekend!

Pinspired Challenge and Tuesday Trigger

Today I wanted to share a card with you that was inspired by the Pinspired Challenge #8 and last weeks Tuesday Trigger Challenge at the Moxie Fab World.  Here are the inspiration pics:

Aren't they wonderful?!  Who would love to have either this fab wedding cake or these lovely petit fours?  They book looks so elegant and delicious.  I love the mint green on the cake and of course it looks so perfect with little pink flowers, so I went ahead and combined them!  I made various sizes of squares using my paper cutter, I think put them each through and with a different embossing folder to add some elegant textures.  The little punched flowers and pearls add some more dimension and bling to catch your eye.  Finally I topped it off with the sentiment from the paper Smooches Word Salad set.  Isn't this just perfect for a wedding or someone you love?!  OK, now bring on the cake!!! :)

PS- if you haven't voted for Stamping Royalty Honorable Mention yet, please go and vote for me HERE!
