Lawn Fawn Sunday

Hello again!  I hope you've enjoyed the weekend.  I have enjoyed not doing too much, sometimes no plans are the best plans. :)

I wanted to share the card I made for this round of Lawnscaping Challenge- this is #52- Stamp a Scene.  I had so much fun with this one!  This little Gnome from the set Gnome Sweet Gnome is one of my favorite LF stamps.  My only wish is that he had a little girlfriend. =)  Which reminds me, have you seen Gnomeo and Juliet?  I think it is a pretty darn cute kids movie.  They make so many good kids movies these days...but I digress.

I combined this guy with the hat and shamrock from Hat's Off to You to make him into a little Leprechaun.  Isn't he the cutest?!  I used Staz On black and markers with my watercolor pen to get the watercolor effect.  The rainbow is ribbon (obviously right) and the cloud is from Bon Voyage.  I glittered up the cloud so that it would match the background.  That was fun, I really don't use enough glitter!!  If I had a cauldron stamp I would have included that with some gold.  Even with out it, I am pretty happy with the way it turned out with out it.   Is that picture a little fuzzy though?  I can't tell, maybe AI need new glasses.  Here is a close up that looks better to me.

I have been Honorable Gnome multiple times over on the Lawnscaping blog, but I *really* want to be a Top Mow-it All or better yet The Queen of Green- that would be so cool!  Who knows, maybe this will be the one...it does make me feel pretty LUCKY! ;)

UPDATE:  I got an invite to participate in V's Sweet Ideas Challenge (VSC #9) which is themed masculine cards.  How nice!  Thank you Karen!  I am all about challenges, so of course I'd love to play. :)

Paper Smooches Saturday

I have a few cards to share with you today that I made over the last week.  These are all for various challenges of course, I am challenge crazy.  LOL.  Actually, it is just a fun way to find different inspiration to make cards.  And.....if I can win something in the meantime, why not right?!

So onto it already.  This first card is for the 10 minute card dash.  This is the first time I've done this challenge...and boy was it a challenge!  I like fussy cutting so getting a card done in 10 minutes was hard! I finished my card at 9 minutes and 57 seconds....so barely!  If you weren't able to get your supplies out first I definitely wouldn't have made it.    I did a sloppy job with my cutting (don't look to close) but oh well, lesson learned for this challenge.  I had fun anyway and enjoyed these colors.  UPDATE- I just realized I got the colors on the 10 minute dash wrong- lol!  I should have used the colors on the 2nd card.  Oh well! :)

I LURVE these Dinos in the PS Cutasaurus set and like the way the 10 minute challenge card came out, so I decided to kinda duplicate that card layout (turned obviously) but add a little bling =) and take a little more care with it (better cutting).  So this is my second card and this one is for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge.  You'll notice the colors are very close to the colors in the other challenge, but this one uses blue instead of green.  I am loving both of these combos, so bright and fun!

I had made another card for the SPARKS challenge, this one was actually the first one I made.  It isn't bad, but it really didn't pop out at me. Of course, the lousy photo doesn't help... I think the dinos do though, they are so cute!

Love Song

This week I was inspired to play the Clean and Simple Challenge (CAS) over at CAS-ual Fridays.  This was fun for me because most of my cards aren't CAS, they are usually busy and focus on the stamped image.  BUT, this time I didn't even stamp!  I know, I can't believe it myself, but here it is, a little DP, some chipboard and glitter, stickers, stickles and twine.  WA-LAH!  The challenge, #89, over there was Love Song.  I had a song from the Proclaimers pop in my head- "I Would Walk 500 Miles"...do you know this one?  Are you humming along with it?  "...Just to be the one to fall down at your door-or-or!  La-lala."  I think that is such a fun way to come up with a card!  They recently did this for one of the Paper Crafts mags issues, I knew I wanted to try it.  What new challenge or technique are you trying to stretch your boundaries this weekend?

Thanks for stopping!

Come on baby light my fire!

Dang it!  Now the Jim Morrison of the Doors out of my head, singing that song!  Oh well, it was totally worth it, because that is the title of the first of my two cards today- "You light my fire!" :)  I found myself with  a free hour the other day and I was able to make some Valentines cards for my hubby and daughter.  It was so fun!

Honestly, I don't always make them cards. They don't really know what to do with them.  I mean they love them, don't get me wrong, but they know how much I love to put into them and so when the holiday is over they don't know what to do with them.  Keep them and become hoarders, throw them away and hurt my feelings... Truthfully, it would be the same with store bought cards.  I don't know what to do with them myself when I get cards.  Often I will keep my very favorites in a special box.  Sometimes, I reuse bits of them that are truly divine- up-cycle!  What do you do with your cards when the holiday has come and gone.  I would love to know what other good uses people have for them.

So "you light my fire!" is obviously for my hubby.  You get it right, dragons breathe fire?!? I am not sure what I think of it, do I like it, do I hate it?  Dunno.  It wasn't what I envisioned.  I think using these colors, patterns and some of these elements, especially the stick pins, was a little outside my comfort zone.  Originally I tried hand writing the title as the sentiment but my handwriting looked terrible so that wouldn't work and I had to change my plan.  I hope he enjoys it and NEVER THROWS IT AWAY!  LOL!

The second is for my baby girl who is just so sweet!  I think this card says it all don't you?!  It was fun making the background with the washi tape.  I love this little pattern and plan to use it again.  This card is pretty clean and simple compared to what I usually make and that is hard for me, so I am happy that I could conquer that.  I love this new set- "Here's the Scoop" from Lawn Fawn, swoon.  I took a close up of this one too so you can see the glittery sprinkles on the ice cream.  YUM!

There are so many challenges out there right now that are all about Valentines Day.  So, today I am entering these cards in several challenges.  The first, "You light my fire!", is going into the Lawnscaping Challenge- Be My Valentine and is inspired by the floral parts of the picture,  the Simon Says Stamp Challenge- Have a Heart (because obviously it has hearts) and finally, the Ribbon Carousel Blog Challenge- Love is in the Air because it is a card about love.  Phew!  That wore me out!  The second, "you are sweet," I am also entering in the Lawnscaping Challenge, because of the sweet treats represented in the photo and Simon Says Challenge because of the little hearts on the washi tape and the stamped hearts. Wish me luck!

SQQQUEAL!!!

I am super excited!  Feb. is here and there are so many new products out on the market!  I've been waiting for this day for a while knowing that some of my favorite stamp companies have awesome new sets and dies out!!!!  In fact, there is a blog hop over at Paper Smooches about the new release and a chance to win a new set.  I recommend doing it because last month I WON, am hoping to get the set in the mail today! :)  Have you stopped squealing yet?  I sure haven't!

While we are talking Paper Smooches, let me share with you the card that I made for this weeks Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge- Picture Perfect.  The challenge was based on this lovely image.  I interpreted it a little different using light blue instead of grey but also added some grey in at the end.  I like the way it came out.  The stamp set is PS Green Acres and I love the entire set, BUT could have bought it just for the piggy and the sentiment, so darn cute! For the layout I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch as a base to start from.

I hope you like it and I thank you for stopping by! TGIF!

UPDATE- forgot to add that I'll be entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge as well, just for the heck of it! :)
