In Love with Top Dog Dies

Sadly my friends, this is my last and final post as a DT member for Top Dog Dies.  Such a fun time on this DT with so many fabulous projects.

As a final showing of my love for Top Dog Dies, I have created a valentines card using the Top Dog Dies Camera Finishers Die Set. This card features the Simon Says Stamp Ugly Sweater Stamp Set, which as you can see is actually perfect for many holidays.  Stamped onto a little pink paper, embelished and cut out, it is perfect to tell some one they will be the perfect valentine.  The sentiment is embossed in white on chalkboard paper.  I accented it with "Love" and hearts from the die set.  I used the American Crafts red glitter paper and that really makes the dies grab your attention.

I've been so lucky to be part of the Top Dog Dies DT and can't express my gratitude enough.  Please head over to Top Dog Dies and check out all the fabulous new dies they have created!  Also, check out their blog and congratulate the new DT members and they are reined in.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Thinking about New Years yet?  Perhaps not as Christmas (if you celebrate) is only a few days away.  But!  It is right around the corner!  Before you know it, we will be in 2015....

Since it is coming up I have a New Years card to share.  Not just any New Year though, Chinese New Year.  That is even further away, February 19th, but I was so inspired by the sparkly cut paper, I could think of nothing else... so why not?!  Here is how this came about....

I was working on my tutorial for the Top Dog Dies blog (which should be featured later this week) using the Top Dog Dies Flower Mosaic A2 Mat Die.  I cut this out using glittery red paper.  I then carefully cut the flowers out using my snips.  When I was done, to what do my wondering eyes should appear, but this remnant of red glitter that reminded me of some Chinese Decor.  Once I got that in my head, I couldn't get it out and thoughts of a Chinese New Year card was borne.

I adhered the glitter layer to my card.  Then I stamped lantern images, from Lawn Fawn's Lunar Lights set, on white.  I used my gelatos and smeared some yellow in the middle for the lantern glow and then used the red around the edges.  I cut and mounted my lanterns and hung them with gold string.  Finally I stamped my sentiment on white and mounted it above the lanterns.  I am really happy with the final look, it just feels right.

Just for fun, I thought I'd share some info I found on Chinese New Year.  Do you celebrate it?  Know anyone who does?  What are your/their fave traditions and/or fave stories around it?

Top Dog Dies Friday

Hi Friends!  I hope you are enjoying your Friday!  One week until Christmas for those of you that celebrate.  I am looking forward to spending time with my family for the holidays.

Today I want to share a card I made for one of my friends or family.  I know it is funny, but I can't remember who I gave it to.  I give out so many and they are all different (no two the same) so forgive me for not remembering.  But I did give it to someone who is special to me. :)

This is uses Top Dog Dies Merry Christmas Die Set and Top Dog Dies Snowman Globe Die Set.  I love these dies with this gold matte paper.  I used the Pink Paislee snow Village DP on this, since it had the right hues.  I embelished with the resin flower, gold ribbon and gold pearl dots.

I hope you enjoyed this post.  I have a tutorial coming up soon over on the Top Dog Dies blog so be sure to check it out.

Thanks!

Season's Greetings + a WINNER!

Happy Monday to all of you!  I hope you enjoyed the Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  I thought it was a blast!  Big THANKS to Amy Tsuruta for arranging it!

I wanted to share a fun holiday card with you today.  It has those ever so popular "Frozen" colors of the year.  I didn't pick he colors for that reason, just picked the paper, but it worked out.  Here it is:

The paper is from Doodlebug Design. I used my Savvy Die for the igloo, cutting it in white paper and sparkly paper to overlay.  I added a little blue around the edges too.  The sentiment is a die cut from Simon Says Stamp that I LOVE!  The little gem snowflake was perfect to dot the I.  The little girl is an A Muse stamp, I colored her with SU! markers.  She is perfect hanging next to the igloo.

Entering this into:

Now even more special is that my daughter made a simliar card.  She used the igloo and sentiment die.  She punched out some snowflakes and added a little color.  She colored and cut the little girl out and made her sliding down the hill.  She was so stinkin' pleased with herself and I really can't blame her, she did great!  She has been getting better and better at her card making....unfortunately, she won't share them with anyone, she loves them so much she wants to keep them all!  LOL.  In time. :)

Now it is time for me to pick a winner from the Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  Drum roll please....

The winner is- Tina!!!!

CAS Christmas

Hello Friends!  Have you linked up to the coffee lovers blog hop yet?  If you haven't you should!

Meanwhile I want to share this fun holiday card with you.  It is much more CAS than my normal style, all that empty space....I can't barely stand it! ;)  Actually, I quite like how it turned out, but couldn't replicate it if I tried probably- ha!

First I stamped the pine boughs in versamark and then embossed them with this glittery pine embossing powder.  I then added my dies.  They are the  Top Dog Dies Ornament & Tags Die Set #2 and the Top Dog Dies Vintage Numbers Die Set.  I used some fun paper to cut it and cut the ornament holder in glittery silver.  I used an actual ornament hook for this.  I simply cut it down and hooked it directly through the paper.  I finished it off with a Simon Says Stamp sentiment in gold.

Sent this one to my Mama and she loved it. :)

Happy Friday!

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Do you remember that fabulous Coffee Blog Hop that happened about a month back?  Well Ms. Amy Tsuruta has decided to do another!  YAY!

This hop has a ton.... I mean a TON of amazing creations and a whole boat load of prizes too.  So....read on!

First things first, I want to share my holiday coffee themed creation with you. What I've got here is a little creative packaging for a holiday gift.  I've put a coffee shop gift card inside mine, but I can also imagine lots of other goodies that might go in there.  Check this out.

What you see here is a clear coffee bean packing back which I picked up at the Container Store.  I made my own paper shreds and put the gift card inside.  I then made a fun and creative tag to go with this gift.  The tag is stamped with Simon Says Stamps What's Brewing Stamp Set.  I paper pieced it with the candy cane type paper from SU!  Next, I stamped and cut out the tiny gingerbread man from the Simon Says Stamp Don We Now Our Ugly Sweaters.  I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches Hot Concoctions stamp set.  Then I used my Tim Holtz ink and distress tool to add a little coffee stain to the edges of my tag.  Next I tied on my green twine from the Twinery and finished it off with that sweet red clothespin.

Who's ready for some Prizes?!?!

OK- first, I will be offering up some blog candy.  I am offering this lovely prize which includes some Freckled Fawn products (clear bag, stickers, washi tape and brads) and this SU! stamp set.  All you have to do to be eligible to win this is comment on this blog to be eligible for that prize (be sure I have your contact info). Eat, Drink and be Tacky

It is that time of year to Eat, Drink and be Tacky.  If you don't have it in you to do all three, just let me know and I'll cover it for you.  I mean, just check out this card.

This is for this weeks Fusion Card Challenge.  Here is the inspiration:

I saw the gingham and I had to break out my new Simon Says Stamp Ugly Sweater set.  I love using this set!  The sentiments really make me chuckle.  Paper piecing the gingham sweater felt just right.  Coloring in the Santa with a combo of Prismacolor colored pencils and some gel pens (to add a little sparkle) was just a bonus.  The papers are from Studio Calico.

I'd advise you to head on over to the Fusion blog and check out all the amazing and glamorous cards there.  If you need a chuckle or a little tacky....feel free to come back here.  Not to worry though, I'll be sending out plenty of holiday cards with this bad boy set this year, so you can expect to see more. :)

PS- this is the last Fusion Challenge for the year and will be extended a little longer than normal, so get cracking and play!
