Happy Birthday to me!!!

Yep, I am old, 30 today!!! Yikes! Actually, I am not worried at all, I believe I am in the prime of my life! :)

I just thought I'd give myself a little shout out and have a virtual cupcake to share- yum!

Also, today I won some super sweet blog candy over at Christine's Creations- thanks Christine!!!

3rd Post from 6/26

I was busy on Friday and never got to my 3rd post, sorry! I just wanted to share the good news that my friend Ana had a baby- Eva Maria born on 6/25 at 9:22 pm! She was a tiny 6 lb 14 oz and 19 inches long. Here she is- so sweet!

This picture actually makes her look much bigger than she is. I held her and her head is like the size of a grapefruit- tiny! Look at all that fuzzy hair, so beautiful!

Congrats to Ana and family!

Today's 2nd Post- 2 scrapbook pages

Now incase you didn't know I loved my daughter (then you weren't listening- j/k!) here is one of the many ways that I show it, I am making a scrapbook of her first year. Fun for me, fun for her later. Although she already likes to look through it with me, so cute! Here are a couple of double layouts I made in the last two days.

This is from 8/08 pictures at daycare, she was about 9 mos old. What a little doll! This paper was so fun and says slides, swings, jump rope, etc. I coupled it with some swirls and a butterfly from my SU! Butterflies Die in the Walk in the Park DSP. Finished it with some bling. On the opposite page, the stars are in the same DSP. I really liked the way the basic gray color popped off of the bold bright page.

Double layout #2 was from our first trip to the pumpkin patch. She was about 11 mos. That pumpkin was bigger than her! I used some retired SU! halloween paper, but kept it pretty mellow in terms of spooky type stuff, just wanted something fun and focusing on greens and oranges. The layout on the right was actually inspired by the cover/label on a pack of colored pencils Sophie has and we were playing with last night. After she went to bed, I went for it.

OK, thanks for coming and looking at my baby girl :), I had fun and hope you did too! One more post coming today.

A little bit of morning fun

For Ethan

Pink Cat Studio is releasing these new digital stamps today to raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation in honour of Ethan Wieman. Little Ethan passed away on July 12th from Neuroblastoma Cancer. Ethan was a true cowboy, loved horses, balloons and knock knock jokes. By purchasing these digital images, you will help brighten the day of a sick child as the money that is raised, will go toward making one of their dreams come true. You can follow this link to Pink Cat Studio to contribute to this worthy cause in Ethan's memory and to read about this remarkable little boy.

Three Challenge Tuesday

I made two cards today that were for three challenges. They were fun to make and it was good to create, I always enjoy it.

The first card is for today's SCS color challenge (CC224)featuring Summer sun, Tangerine Tango, and Pacific Point. I had fun with this color combo. The main image is not a SU! stamp, but not sure who's it is. Tracey was kind enough to pre-stamp and send the image on white card stock a while ago. Thanks again Tracey!

Next, I made a card for the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #10. Here is Dawn's color pallete-

Nice colors right?! Well I combined this with yesterdays SCS Clean and Simple Challenge #20 in which paper peicing was to be used. Here is the card I made for both of these.

What I've been doing

I haven't posted much lately, but I have been busy. Here are a few of the projects I have been working on, mostly for other people.

Here is a project I made for Kristina Werner's Color Challenge #55. The colors are Rust, Mustard, Vanilla and Grey. I don't actually like this creation, but I can't tell if that is because it isn't my taste, I'm not sure about the color combo or I just don't like it. Anyway, I used this stamp on the side and thought it looked western, thus added the twine and the boot.

Next is a baby shower invitation for my friend Bree's Baby Shower which I am throwing. I used the new Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and the Animal Cracker's Stamp set.

Here is the Father's Day present I made for my husband. It is pictures of him and my daughter Sophie. You may have seen the one I made for my Dad, which was similar but had pics of he and I.

This one is a card i made for an upcoming swap featuring new Stampin' Up! products. This card has some of the new In-Color papers and a stamp from one of the new sets. Nice right?!

The next item is one I made for my good friend's 30th Birthday. I am loving these little chipboard albums.

Father's Day Project for Dear Old Dad

I just wanted to share with you the project I made for my Father for part of his father's day gift.

This small album is made from wood (could easily be chipboard or other as well) and folds out into this cute accordian that would look great on a mantle or shelf. I have not shown the front page, but the "cover" has some chipboard and other accents that say Love (heart actully) my Father. The final page has a personal note from me. I'd have like to put pictures on both sides to make it reversable, but ran out of time since I needed to mail it. Both sides are covered with the paper however. The first is just an image of my dad and I that says, "together" and the next page, with a picture of home says, "the nicest place to be". The next is an image of my father giving me away at my wedding. Next says, "U r the best". Finally, a picture of my dad, myself and my daughter on my father's last birthday. I felt that it was a good progression of my (his daughters) life and milestones that he was there for and would be proud of. It makes me a bit sentimental to talk about. Anyone have some tissue?

Although I did not make it with this purpose, the albums main colors are those from Stacey's Jewelry Color Inspiration #41 found here. So what the heck right, might as well play! Thanks Stacey, these are so fun and I love this color combo! In fact, I think it is such a great idea to use fun jewelry to find inspriation, it really is all around us.

Thanks for stopping by!

From Courtney's Closet #45- Courtney's Playdate

By now you all know how much I LOVE to play the From Courtney's Closet Challenge over at Libby's blog. It is so fun to see cute little Courtney as she grows up and changes, my darling Sophie isn't much older and they both just keep getting cuter!!! Well this week Libby has been gracous enough to allow my little Sophie to be Courtney's playdate! *BIG GRIN*!! Thanks so much Libby, this is so fun!

Sophie is posing here for me at daycare in the morning playing with pop beads. Who knew those still existed?! Anyway, I love this outfit, one of my faves, she has a similar one in pink too. This day though I dressed her in blue, it bring out the color in her eyes. Batt those eyes for Mama, that a girl! ;)

Now, check out the LOVELY, LOVELY card that Libby made. All I can say is W-O-W! I love these flowers, the way they pop out and the bling too! The different blues and green are nice, I like the textured paper and the scalloped edge. It is just fabulous! She certainly put me to shame, but I would expect nothing more from Libby, she is a card making queen! :)

Now here is my little do-dadd. I had fun doing the bottom border of the card, using the SU! Eastern Blooms set and a small leaf punch I had. The flowers were a bit of an experiment using torn and folder paper. I am still not 100% sold on them, but I love the color combo so much in this card I just don't care. :)

So pop on over to Libby's blog and come play with us! We can't wait to see what you make!

A wise man once said...

When all philosophies shall fail, This word alone shall fit; That a sage feels too small for life, And a fool too large for it. -Chesterton, Gilbert Keith

Anyway, I have been seeing a lot of Sage Shadow lately ;), and some lovely brown's too. I think these are such great colors together!

First, I made this b-day card for a co-worker's Grandmother who is turning 99, can you imagine?! Wow, that lady just keeps tickin'! I thought, if I was turning 99, I'd probably be into victorian-like classy prints, so that is why I chose this paper. I'll be sad to see the Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP go. :( I thought the chipboard and flowers were a nice touch and the sentiments just says, "Congrats on getting older and better than ever." Now, if I was 99, I might think that sentiment was a load of crud, because I'd be grumpy and old, but I think that would just be me! ;) Anyway (and more importantly), hope Grandma likes it!

Next, I made this Father's Day card for a friend to give to her dad. Again using that same paper. I used the Branch Out stamp set, which is so fun! I love that little tire swing and the galloshes as well as the other accessories that come with it (a birdie, bird house, butterflies, snowflakes, & leaves)! She said her dad is a bit of a hippy/nature guy, so thought this might work with the tree but also by reminising of childhood with the playful tire swing. I am also loving the distressed edges, who knew the fingers were such good tools! :) Of course, I hope he likes it too!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come back on Thursday for a fun From Courtney's Closet Challenge, it will be featuring Courtney's playdate Sophie!!! :)

Here's her card:

It really does go great with Sophie's dress!

I have to say, selecting the random winner made my life easier, because choosing a favorite to win the blog candy was hard! But I loved

#2- Jackie's Birds and Blooms- Jackie said-

Another great card, Katie! I love the circle covered in flowers!! I took your challenge and made a card with Yellow!

This one is my favorite because I love the SU! Ppink Flamingo DSP, it is one of my very favorite papers and the yellow in it is bright and cheery! Check it out:

And here is Meredith's lovely and elegant grattitude card. I love the distressed edge ovals and the wording in the backdrop of the closest oval that makes the central image pop!

Please check out all these lovely ladies blogs and see all of their other wonderful creations, trust me, it is worth it!

Add a little Mojo to your Timeless Tuesday

Oh what fun I am having! Did I mention how much I love the sun?! Well I do. We are spending our days (after work) at the park or beach and I'm loving it.

Last night I decided to try out the mojo monday challenge and it was fun. Here is the sketch-

I had fun with this one. I love Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP (btw, will be gone after this month so get it now or forever hold your peace!). I think the colors are good for a Father's Day card, but I kept this one blank and it can go for any occassion. My favorite part about this card is the little girl. I bought this stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs because her name is Sofia and my daughter's name is Sophie, I couldn't resist! She actually totes a wagon with a potted flower and kitty, but I went with out that and put flowers from SU!'s Loads of Love behind her, like she is going to suprise you. I think I might give this to my hubby for father's day, wouldn't it be great?! Anyway, I enjoyed this challenge and am loving those courdaroy brads!

This next card is something I was commissioned to make for a co-worker to congratulate her on a promotion. The card is large (6X6) so plenty of signatures can fit on it. She likes gardening and green is her fave color- so that works. I used the Dreams du Joir set that quotes Woodrow Wilson, "We Grow Great by Dreams". I had fun framing the image with folded ribbon behind, the top note die in the backdrop and the little leaves dies in mutiple colors coupled with flowers died So Saffron From the Pretties Kit and the added pearl centers. This is my card for this weeks Timeless Tuesday over at Flourishes- where the challenge is to use frames.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have enjoyed this post and the sunny weather!

TWO DAYS LEFT to enter the Mellow Yellow Blog Challenge found here. Some phat BLOG CANDY is the reward! :)
