Color Splash

So when you see this picture or think of "color splash" what does it bring to mind for you?  Do you think of something mono-chromatic or poly-chromatic?  Perhaps you think of something that just exhibits color in one specific place or alternately all over the card?  Well I think there are a lot of ways to intepret this and would love to hear your ideas.  Here is the idea that came to my mind.

I made this card for Lawnscaping Challenge #36.  I used the flamingo from the Gnome Sweet Gnome set.  I thought the sentiment was perfect with the one word embossed in bright pink to match the flamingo.

So, if you don't know already (...then you haven't been paying attention!!! wink) I LOVE Lawn Fawn stamps and Lawnscaping Challenges and can't get enough.  In fact, I am thrilled to be a guest designer for the next challenge.  What is the challenge you ask?!  Well you'll have to stay tuned to find out!!!  :)  Come back here on 7/2 to find out!

PS- don't forget to check out the Heroe's Card Drive on the Lawnscaping Challenge blog so that you can donate cards to troops for them to send to their families.  There are a lot of drives out there that do the opposite (send cards to families to send to troops) but we know the support systems for these heroes need a little support too!  Go join in!

Cheers!

Patterned Paper- Part III

Hi again.  Just wanted to share with you the Father's Day Card I plan to give to my daddy.  I chose this stamp set because my dad loves photography.  He is soooo good at it and has won tons of medals and other things.  He's taken photo trips to Africa, Madagascar, China, Patagonia, and all around the world.  I only wish this apple fell a little closer to the tree, but alas, my photography skills are not good.  I guess it takes practice and the right equipment and space and mostly I just don't have the time for it, but maybe one day.

I am using this card for my final entry in the Lawnscaping Patterned Paper Challenge.  I had so much fun choosing these masculine colors and lining them up and cutting them.  The mustache paper is my fave because my dad has always had a big bushy mustache.  Picture Tom Selleck style in Magnum P.I. (LOVED that show and would still watch it today if it was still on!).  Yep, that is what good old Pop's stache looks like.  Although these days his is mostly white and gray.  Recently we've given him the title the Lorax because after taking my daughter to see that she thought their mustaches looked a like.  My dad is a tree hugger, so if the shoe fits....  In fact, Sophie told me that "Grandpa had a mustache and a binky when he was a baby!"  Kids are so funny!

so with out further ado, here is the card that I'll be giving to my Dear Old Dad.  I sure hope he likes it!  He is just the best Dad ever and I look forward to being able to spend Father's Day with him! :)

Patterned Paper- Part II

I have another fun card to show you for Lawnscapings Patterned Paper Challenge today.  Not only that but I combined it with the last Mojo Monday challenge just for kicks.  You already know I love Lawn Fawn (LF) and Lawnscaping, but I also like Mojo for their great layouts.  Sometimes when I am having a block in creativity...like writers block for my creations...I find this site really useful.  As an aside, what do you suppose that is called?  Creativity block?

Anyhoo, this card is a sweet baby card using LF's Plus One set.  I just think this is soooooooo darn cute. I guess that is why I love LF, because all their stamps are cute and fun, which are my fave type and I think you could safely say my style is more that than anything else.

So what is your card making style or preference?  Shabby-chic, clean and simple, modern?  Why do you like that style so much?  I think I choose cute and fun because, with some exceptions, that is what I want to convey with my cards- fun times and fun things!

Speaking of fun, I am having an early birthday gathering this weekend.  Lots of girls are coming over and we are gonna have wine and treats and stamp!  I couldn't ask for a better celebration!  My friend Jennifer is coming over and going to demonstrate some of the new Stampin' Up! products for us.  I am really looking forward to it!

I hope you enjoy your weekend as much as I plan too!

Patterned Paper- part I

Hi-
Another fun Lawnscaping Challenge here- Use Patterned Paper.

If I have time, I always do these challenges! 1) they are fun 2) you can win LawnFawn stamps 3) They are fun  4) you can win LF stamps...... oh wait did I already say that?!  Well in case you didn't know, I love LawnFawn and Lawnscaping, they are fab!
So here is my card (you can expect a few more before this challenge is over!).  This is no a LF stamp it is actually Paper Smooches.  LF has a smiliar stamp which I love, but I already had this set.  I may have to get the LF one anyway, because it has some other super cute critters and feel better sentiments on it.  A girl can never have too many stamps! :)  I like the clean and simple look of this card with the bright colors.  It would certainly cheer me up.
Soooo...thanks for stopping!  Happy Hump Day!
