Snowed In and Snowed OUT!

OK, I do love a bit of snow in the winter but this has been ridiculous! Seattle was snowed in (it only takes 6-12 inches folks!) for about a week. I didn't think that we would be able to drive to Spokane for Christmas. At last we made it, took the window of opportunity and break in the snow and drove. We got there with one donut tire (yes we had a flat on the way) but in once peice. We then went to Les Schwab to get patched up only to find that we were driving on 3 bald tires and a donut!! SO LUCKY we made it! So $200 later we have two new tires and still two to buy (not optimal timining but the safety of the family is better). To boot, Spokane & Coeur'd Alene had beetween 2 and 3 feet of snow. The morning we left (again window of opp) we had to dig out from the fresh 6 inches that had fallen and chain up. Here we are again and all SNOWED OUT, I am good for at least a year folks. You?!?!?

Meanwhile, you would have thought I would have gotten some new posts up but I was busy chasing my daughter around and having battles with snow shovels, sorry! I will have a few new ones this week though, so stay tuned.

My first craft fair!

I did my very first craft fair last week. I was very ill with the respitory cold/flu including sinus infection, ear infection and asthma, which sucked but I did OK sales and it was fun anyway. It was actually funny when one girl literally did a u-turn when I coughed, but she worked with patients at the SCCA, so who can blame her. Here's a pic. :)

Candy Kabob Stocking Stuffer

These candy kabobs make GREAT stocking stuffers or small gifts for kids or friends. Better yet they are soooo easy! I am noting doing a step by step with pictures, but you don't need it.

1. Go to store & buy holiday candy (gummy kind) of your choice and wooden kabob skewers. You will also want some kind of bag to put around it, I got mine at party store, clear party favor bags.

2. put candy on from pointy end leaving enough room to tie off the bag at the top. (my bag was about 6 inches, so candy goes up 5"). This can be messy, so be prepared!

3. Using elastic cord (I used silver SU! cord) tie the bag snuggly closed to preserve and protect kabob.

4. Trim the top of the skewer using wire cutters (I didn't want a long end).

5. Using your chosen stamp (I used SU Deer Friends set and Chocolate Chip Ink) stamp image on plain colored cardstock (I used real red). Cut out with 1 3/8" circle punch. You will need to do two- one for each side.

6. Take patterned paper and punch two scallop circles. Adhere circle to scallop circles.

7. Using sticky strip on both backs of the scallop circle put on either side of the end of the kabob and adere to one another.

Wallah! A tasty treat anyone would enjoy! I would like to thank Andrea Walford for this fabulous idea!

Sorry about the late posting and the poor picture quality. I have been very sick and wanted to get this up as promised, thus I had to rush around and ended up taking the photos with my phone.

Donate to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society

Hey All. My friend Jen is doing a race/fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. She recently had a trivia night to raise some of that money. She commissioned me to make a handful of Thank you cards to give to those that helped her organize. I made the cards trying to keep them gender neutral so they could be for male or female, shown below.

Meanwhile she just finished the Seattle 1/2 in preparation for this event. Here is a picture of her at the end- in AMAZINGLY good spirits (I would cry...if I made it that far). Her fundraising goal for the upcoming race is $3800- whoa!! Luckily she is only a few hundred away! I thought you all might want to donate to this cause. If you feel so inclined, click the link to go to her page and donate: http://pages.teamintraining.org/wa/pfchangs09/jbrownddsk. You can also check out her blog at http://www.seejbrun.blogspot.com/ to see photos of her running and trivia event. :)

THANKS!!!

He'll be comin' to town

Oh I just love this card for three reasons: 1) I think it is cute and it makes me feel young 2) used a new technique 3) I made it with my dad over Thanksgiving and he made one too. :)

I used a masking technique and a sponge for the clouds, aren't they great?! Thanks Andrea Walford for the tutorial!!! I embossed Santa in his sleigh with red sparkly embossing powder. This card reminds me of being a child and seeing Santa's sleigh in the sky. Whether he used magic or was guided by a helicopter, I will never know.....

Enjoy!

My Thanksgiving Table

OK, here is my thanksgiving table, I know it is a little late. I didn't have any plans to do this, so it was very last minute. The turkeys are made using SU's earth elements paper and punches. The leaves are from the Big Shot die cutting machine. The side candles were something from William Sonoma several years ago. The center candle was a simple tin bucket, wrapped in orange tissue (like you would pack a glass if you were moving) wrapped with some SU Chocolate Chip Ribbon and a candle in the middle. Wa-lah!

Whoops, didn't mean to upload this one on here, but I am sure you don't mind. :) This is a pic from earlier in the day. Sophie's hair is in pigtails for the first time. I love it, want to do it all the time, but it came out pretty quickly. She doesn't have quite enough hair yet.
