Come on baby light my fire!

Dang it!  Now the Jim Morrison of the Doors out of my head, singing that song!  Oh well, it was totally worth it, because that is the title of the first of my two cards today- "You light my fire!" :)  I found myself with  a free hour the other day and I was able to make some Valentines cards for my hubby and daughter.  It was so fun!

Honestly, I don't always make them cards. They don't really know what to do with them.  I mean they love them, don't get me wrong, but they know how much I love to put into them and so when the holiday is over they don't know what to do with them.  Keep them and become hoarders, throw them away and hurt my feelings... Truthfully, it would be the same with store bought cards.  I don't know what to do with them myself when I get cards.  Often I will keep my very favorites in a special box.  Sometimes, I reuse bits of them that are truly divine- up-cycle!  What do you do with your cards when the holiday has come and gone.  I would love to know what other good uses people have for them.

So "you light my fire!" is obviously for my hubby.  You get it right, dragons breathe fire?!? I am not sure what I think of it, do I like it, do I hate it?  Dunno.  It wasn't what I envisioned.  I think using these colors, patterns and some of these elements, especially the stick pins, was a little outside my comfort zone.  Originally I tried hand writing the title as the sentiment but my handwriting looked terrible so that wouldn't work and I had to change my plan.  I hope he enjoys it and NEVER THROWS IT AWAY!  LOL!

The second is for my baby girl who is just so sweet!  I think this card says it all don't you?!  It was fun making the background with the washi tape.  I love this little pattern and plan to use it again.  This card is pretty clean and simple compared to what I usually make and that is hard for me, so I am happy that I could conquer that.  I love this new set- "Here's the Scoop" from Lawn Fawn, swoon.  I took a close up of this one too so you can see the glittery sprinkles on the ice cream.  YUM!

There are so many challenges out there right now that are all about Valentines Day.  So, today I am entering these cards in several challenges.  The first, "You light my fire!", is going into the Lawnscaping Challenge- Be My Valentine and is inspired by the floral parts of the picture,  the Simon Says Stamp Challenge- Have a Heart (because obviously it has hearts) and finally, the Ribbon Carousel Blog Challenge- Love is in the Air because it is a card about love.  Phew!  That wore me out!  The second, "you are sweet," I am also entering in the Lawnscaping Challenge, because of the sweet treats represented in the photo and Simon Says Challenge because of the little hearts on the washi tape and the stamped hearts. Wish me luck!

These are both just fabulous, they are going to adore these cards! I get cards from my friends (Fellow crafters), and I keep them for sentimental reasons and inspiration. Someday, I hope to put them in a scrapbook.
