Amaryllis

My lovely mother grows and amaryllis every year.  When I am there for the holidays I always gaze at it in wonder. They are so gorgeous!  So, when I saw this set, I knew I had to have it so I could make this card for her.  SHHHHH, don't tell her.

I looked up images of amaryllis to decide how I wanted to color it and that is how I started this card, by stamping on Copic friendly paper and coloring.  Once I had them colored like I wanted I needed something to put them in, so I die cut this pot from Lawn Fawn in gold paper with an extra bit so I could pop out the pot lip.  I cut a bit in brown and tucked it in the top of the pot and colored it like there was dirt inside.  Then I put my flowers in the pot.  I tied a bit of ribbon around it and set it aside. Then I stamped this background stamp from The Stamp Market on white paper and used My Wow Embossing Powder. Once that was done, I die cut that layer using my deckle edge die from Honey Bee.  I mounted my pot on the layer and mounted the layer on white cardstock.

I have to say, I love the combo of gold and (not quite) red.  The flower shape against the diamond pattern.  I do a lot of cute and not a lot of chic or floral, so I am happy to have changed it up.

I made this as a make and take for my crafty friends at our last get together and instead of copics provided zigs and the images stamped on watercolor paper.  So fun!
